WhatsApp button on your website: how to get customers to message you
O texto do botão
"Clique aqui" diz pouco.
O botão traz a conversa; a resposta fecha o negócio.
For many businesses, WhatsApp is the checkout counter: it's where a quote turns into a sale. The website is there to bring people into that conversation with as little effort as possible. A good WhatsApp button does exactly that.
The link that opens the chat
WhatsApp accepts an address in the format https://wa.me/COUNTRYCODENUMBER, digits only: country code, area code and phone number. When tapped, the app opens straight into a chat with you, on the phone or on the computer.
You can add a ready message with ?text= at the end of the link. For example, "Hi! I found you on your website and I'd like a quote". The customer only needs to tap send, and you already know where they came from.
One message for each button
If your website offers several services, each button can carry a different text: one for website quotes, another for landing pages, another for support. When the message arrives, you know the subject before reading the rest.
Where to place it
- At the top of the page, near the main promise, for visitors who arrive ready to decide.
- After explaining the service, right when the person has understood what you do.
- At the end, together with the phone number written out, for those who prefer to save the contact.
A floating button in the corner of the screen also works, as long as it doesn't cover text or other buttons on phones.
The button text
"Click here" says very little. Prefer text that shows what happens: "Get a quote on WhatsApp", "Ask a question on WhatsApp", "Message us now". The WhatsApp icon next to it helps people recognize the button right away.
Mistakes that make customers give up
- A number with spaces, dashes or no country code: the link doesn't open the right chat.
- A number nobody answers or that belongs to another department.
- A button hidden in the footer, after pages of text.
- Promising an "instant reply" when you only answer at the end of the day.
Answering fast also sells
The button starts the conversation; your reply closes the deal. An automatic welcome message, with your business hours and the most common questions, helps customers wait instead of giving up. This kind of reply is one of the simplest and most useful features a small business can have.
